Peripheral Imaging Solutions, Inc. has developed Switch Boss®. This device
easily connects to printers and other office appliances that uses standard, IEC 60320-C13,
detachable power cord. It enables users to power-cycle appliances not currently equipped with
a power button.
Many electronic office resources are shipping without power switches. They
incorporate alternative power-saving methods such as sleep-modes or power-save
modes. These devices are still drawing electricity however, and are not truly
off. This can result in 14 hours of wasted power use when the office closes down
for the evening, and everything is supposed to be turned off. There are other times
when it is desirable to turn the appliances power off in normal operation of the device.
To facilitate alternation between power modes, Peripheral Imaging Solutions, Inc. has
developed Switch Boss®. It enables users to power-cycle (turn off and on) their appliances
without pulling their appliances away from the wall to access the power cable. This device
has many-fold benefits including: reducing stress and wear on the power cable, reducing stress
and wear on the power wall socket, reducing strain for the end-users, and adding safety to
appliances that would otherwise require movement to access their power cable. The
Switch Boss® is built with only UL and CE approved parts. If your appliance doesn’t come
with a power switch, it is imperative that you acquire a Switch Boss® to ensure
low monthly power use, a long cable life, as well as to ensure your own
safety.
